It seems that every studio in Hollywood is making a movie based on some comic book. You would think this a great idea with the success of movies such as Spiderman, Superman and Xmen. However, despite the success of some of the comic-based movies, there seem to be more and more bombs.
10. Fantastic 4 - This movie probably had the biggest hype, which meant the biggest letdown. Sure, the special effects were pretty cool, but the plot was horrible. Maybe if this movie was one of the first “comic book base movies” it might have been better, but unfortunately it wasn’t.
9. Ghost Rider - I have actually never seen this movie, but Nick Cage as a comic book hero just doesn’t do it for me. Maybe I’m wrong.
8. Hulk - Slowest. Movie. Ever. Hulk seemed promising at first and went absolutely NO WHERE. I think there was a total of 10 minutes of action in the entire film.
7. Elektra - Jennifer Garner plays some supernatural assasin who teams up with a family to save their daughter because she has some supernatural power. There, I just saved an hour and a half of your life. Thank me later.
6. Aeon Flux - I’ll admit, Charlize Theron in tight leather outfits is enough for me to pay the $1351235 price for a movie ticket. Unfortunately, the plot was so horrendous that it outweighed the Charlize Theron factor, rendering it #7 on my comic book movie shit list.
5. Doom - Now I know Doom was a video game and not a comic, but I felt the need to include it because it was so bad. Plus, I needed to fill the 6th slot in the list =P. The Rock, Sweet Guns, Crazy Aliens…sounds like a recipe for success, right? Wrong. I’ve watched episodes of Bill O’Reilly that were more exciting that this movie.
4. Daredevil - Daredevil had a decent plot. Not a great one, but decent. Ben Affleck as a superhero? No way. Affleck is a little biatch and should only play girlie roles in the movies like Jersey Girl ( I liked that movie ).
3. Judge Dredd - I didn’t know this was based on a comic, but apparently it is. While I love Sly Stallone, I couldn’t get over the cheesy “futuristic” effects of this movie. Stallone should stick to the Rocky Series.
2. Batman And Robin - Ah the dynamic duo. Sadly, Clooney might have been the worst Batman out of all of them. Plus Ahhhhnold as Mr. Freeze? Come on now. I especially like Mr. Freeze’s footmen who use iceskates as their means of transportation.
1. Catwoman - Did this movie ever release in theatres? I vaguely remember stumbling home drunk one night to find Catwoman on HBO. I gave it 10 minutes and decided to watch Chitty Chitty Bang Bang instead…It was that bad. But then again, I love Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (esp. when drunk?)
Agree? Disagree? What did I miss?

Ghost Rider was mildly entertaining. That is my main point of contention on this list. I am torn with Daredevil though, being that he is probably my all time favorite superhero. I hated Catwoman for a couple of reasons. The first being that Halle Berry did the unthinkable and play two different characters in different comic universes. She sucked as Storm in XMen what made them think she made a good Catwoman. Also, they totally destroyed the Catwoman origin and bastardized it.
Fantastic Four 2 was great BTW.
the only one i saw outta these was fantastic 4, it was ok, but now i know not to waste my time with any of the others.
what about ultraviolet? that movie sucked heinously
Your argument would be much stronger if you named ONE movie that was more than 10 years old. All the Superman movies after #2 should be on this list. Also “Supergirl”. You think “Ghost Rider” was bad, but you’ve clearly never seen any of the “Captain America” movies. Yes, movieS. Two made for tv debacles and another direct-to-video piece of shit where the Red Skull was…Italian???
I would also include that Avengers animated movie from a few years back. And “X-Men 3″ was shit, too.
well all but 2 or 3 were in the last 10 years, probably in the last 5 years so I don’t know what you are talking about.
I haven’t seen the Captain America movies, thankfully.

That’s my point, exactly! This is the 10 worst super hero movies of the last 10 years. It’s hardly comprehensive.
It’s just a gripe of mine with the internet generation. A bunch of kids shooting off their opinions and making lists of the “best” and “worst” whatevers, but they only know from the last 10-15 years, while discounting 99% of the culture of the 20th century.
Sure, the Fantastic Four movie was bad, but was it worse than the Roger Corman version from 1994? Not by a longshot.
Yea I hear ya…maybe i should just change the title to “in the last 10 years”. Either way, thanks for the comments fuzz.
This list is bullshit, Steel, Supergirl, Superman 3 & 4, Howard the Duck were way worse than some of those posted
Ghost Rider was AWEFUL for the very reason you cited… Nick Cage was a horrid casting choice. There wasn’t a single time in that movie that I was convinced in anyway that he was Ghost Rider.
And ‘Fantastice Bore 2′ was even worse than the first one, especially when you mixed in the T2-esk CGI of the Silver Surfer. Seriously, you couldn’t do better than that?!?!
Still, when it comes to comic book movies most fail because of poor casting. I still can’t make it through a Spider Man movie cuz of that girl they have playing Peter Parker. I want my super-heroes to feel ’super’… not like they are undergoing the early stages of a sex transplant operation.
pretty much right on with the list but i think your call on daredevil is based on the original cut.check out the directors cut that’s been re-edited and added with a half hour of new footage. its a lot darker, meaner and smarter then the the first cut and is probably my favorite comic movie next to batman begins and the crow.
