The Phillies are now the losingest team in sports…followed by the Braves at 9,681 losses (how fitting). Should we be happy about this? When I was at the game last night - drunk and gorging on Tony Luke’s - I was cheering for failure.
That’s right, in the very city where I boo future Hall-of-Famers for striking out, for not completing a pass in the flats or missing a 10-foot jump shot. But last night was different. If the Phils didn’t lose, I would have been pissed. And they have been damn good at losing, since they have only won ONE championship (1980) in 125 years!
And to top it all off, our leader, Chuck Manuel said after the game, “I don’t really care about it.” Well what the piss do you care about these days? This guy is unreal, I say we need to start a revolution to get Leyland, who we passed up for good ole’ Chucko! Who’s with me?

I’m not getting too worked up about this milestone in professional sports. If anything, the front office needs to make some (relatively) easy personnel moves:
- Bite the bullet, and sit Burrell. During yesterday’s game they should have just had Rowand play center and left. He’s jobbing it. They are better off the rest of this season platooning Bourn, Werth, & Dobbs.
- Package Barajas up and ship him out, bring back Coste as a backup to Carlos Ruiz.
- Take Wes Helms out behind the stadium and put him out of his misery. What happened to that slugger we were supposed to have at third.
- Trade Rowand now for an ace, otherwise we’ll get nothing for him come free agency.
The good news, according to the700level, is that the yankees are looking for a back up catcher in exchange for some pos middle reliever. That’s a trade that has phillies and rod barajas written all over it. honestly, it’s a good deal if rod takes a short ride up the turnpike and we get a bag of balls.
tony luke’s, mmmmmmmmmm, de-lish
the phils are my team and all, but they are the most unclutch team in sports blowing the wild card the past couple years. They are so mediocre this year that Utley, Rowand, Rollins having career years is keeping the team at .500.
Pat the Bat is coming around! Leads the team in walks! Too bad we may have the least amount of minor league prospects (read trade bait) of any teams looking to improve…
