Reader “Douglas” linked me to a webpage full of funny pictures of cats and kittens. Since I am huge cat lover, I can’t help but share the love on BpBc. Granted some of the captions are corny, but the cats are cute.

Enjoy.

Eagles Beat On CowboysSooo this Christmas started off meh, nothing spectacular. There was no snow, I ate way too much of the same food (felt like puking), and presents were so-so. Not the best Christmas by any means.

Then the Eagles game rolled around and the beer started flowing. The Birds had their way with the Cowboys. And when I say “had their way”, I literally mean they bent the Cowboys over and gave it to them raw. Tony Homo liked it. It was such a glorious win. GLORIOUS.

But yea, talk about a complete 180. A mediocre Holiday turned out pretty solid.

Best Christmas present ever (besides my kick ass huffy bike in ‘91).

Anyway, what did you kids get for the Holidays?

I am starting a new section where I will post a random pic for you all to caption. You can leave the captions in the comments. I will choose the best one and I am not sure if you will get anything, most likely not. It should be fun regardless.

Here is this week’s contestant:

Ed's Face

My caption would be “There’s poop on that dollar!”

Caption away!

I hope you all have a happy holidays with family and friends. I have been watching Christmas movies all day and although there is no snow here (God damn global warming), I am feeling the Christmas Spirit.

Here is a Christmas story I read about in high school, but many people have never heard.

The Christmas Truce - When Men Said No To War

On Christmas Day, 1914, in the first year of World War I, German, British, and French soldiers disobeyed their superiors and fraternized with “the enemy” along two-thirds of the Western Front. German troops held Christmas trees up out of the trenches with signs, “Merry Christmas.” “You no shoot, we no shoot.” Thousands of troops streamed across a no-man’s land strewn with rotting corpses. They sang Chrismas carols, exchanged photographs of loved ones back home, shared rations, played football, even roasted some pigs. Soldiers embraced men they had been trying to kill a few short hours before. They agreed to warn each other if the top brass forced them to fire their weapons, and to aim high.

A shudder ran through the high command on either side. Here was disaster in the making: soldiers declaring their brotherhood with each other and refusing to fight. Generals on both sides declared this spontaneous peacemaking to be treasonous and subject to court martial. By March, 1915 the fraternization movement had been eradicated and the killing machine put back in full operation. By the time of the armistice in 1918, fifteen million would be slaughtered.

Not many people have heard the story of the Christmas Truce. Military leaders have not gone out of their way to publicize it. On Christmas Day, 1988, a story in the Boston Globe mentioned that a local FM radio host played “Christmas in the Trenches,” a ballad about the Christmas Truce, several times and was startled by the effect. The song became the most requested recording during the holidays in Boston on several FM stations. “Even more startling than the number of requests I get is the reaction to the ballad afterward by callers who hadn’t heard it before,” said the radiohost. “They telephone me deeply moved, sometimes in tears, asking, `What the hell did I just hear?’”

I think I know why the callers were in tears. The Christmas Truce story goes against most of what we have been taught about people. It gives us a glimpse of the world as we wish it could be and says, “This really happened once.” It reminds us of those thoughts we keep hidden away, out of range of the TV and newspaper stories that tell us how trivial and mean human life is. It is like hearing that our deepest wishes really are true: the world really could be different.

OffTheRail Poker

Check it everyone. I haven’t played online poker since my senior year of college. I would grind out the tables in between classes during the day, get drunk at night and squander away my winnings. It wasn’t a great feeling when I would wake up hungover and broke. So I stopped playing.

A week ago my brother asked me to try out this new poker site he is promoting at Penn State called OffTheRail Poker. What a mistake that was because now I am hooked again. The only difference this time is that I am winning, a lot. Plus I am not losing it all each night. I started with 100 (they matched me with 100) and now I am up to around 750.

Normally, I don’t disclose financial stuff on BpBc, but I can’t help myself with the success I’m having. You know the feeling I’m talking about. Kinda like when you win a big multiplayer tournament and you immediately call all of your friends to tell them.

I don’t know if it’s weaker competition or if I am just playing better than normal, but i’m happy with the results.

Check them out. You can use their code “RailMatch” for their matching bonus. I think they match up to 600 on or something your first deposit.

Good luck and if you join, my player name is Didadel. Try me heads up, but don’t be mad when I take your money!

There are all kinds of Christmas lists floating around the web this holiday. No one ever pays tribute to the bad guys who make for the best antagonists. Even though they usually come around in the end, they still give the good guys a run for their money.

The Top 5 Most Evil Christmas Villains:

  • Evil Magician - Frosty The Snowman5. Evil Magician - Frosty The Snowman
The evil magician cut Frosty no slack. He kept trying to steal that damn hat, leaving Frosty lifeless. The guy had no heart. (I couldn’t find an actual pic of him from the movie, so enjoy this stuffed animal fill-in)
  • The Bumble - Rudolph4. The Bumble - Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer
Probably one of the most misunderstood villains. Sure he was scary and he gave Yukon Cornelius a run for his money, but he was a softy inside. Once they fixed that tooth, he was a big teddy bea…errr bumble.
  • The Grinch3. The Grinch - How The Grinch Stole Christmas
The Grinch was terrible. Stealing all of Whoville’s gifts. Plus he tortured that poor dog. If I lived in Whoville I would have tarred and feathered The Grinch, even if his heart had grown in size. Stealing my gifts is unforgivable.
  • Mr. Potter - It's a Wonderful Life2. Mr. Potter - It’s a Wonderful Life
For those of you who’ve seen “It’s A Wonderful Life”, you know that Mr. Potter was a mean, mean man. He took over the town, put George out on the street, and almost drove him to suicide. For those of you who didn’t see the movie, I just ruined it for you. Sorry.
  • The Sticky Bandits - Home Alone1. Marv and Harry - Home Alone
The Sticky Bandits are everyone’s favorite Christmas Villain Duo. Going up against Kevin McAllister meant they were doomed from the start. I’ve never seen two people take such a beating while relentlessly attempting to break into a house. That damn McAllister kid, so resourceful.

So there are my Top 5 Most Evil Christmas Villains.

Did I miss anyone that should clearly be on the list?
