The Bamboozle

So Big Kat and I made it to The Bamboozle Festival this past Saturday at the Meadowlands. The last time I went to Bamboozle was years ago when it was called the Skate And Surf Fest. Anyway, all I can say is WOW. It has changed a TON over the past few years. It seems like there are 2934854 more bands and 329829385 more fans.

All in all it was a good time. I got to see 9 or 10 bands that I really enjoy play a whopping 7 songs each (they only played a 30 minute set). Most put on a good show with the exception of New Found Glory. They just didn’t do it for me. Saves The Day / The Starting Line put on the best performances, mainly because they played A LOT of older stuff which is what the crowd wanted.

I also gotta give props to the people who set up the event. Everything ran surprisingly smooth and the setup was pretty incredible. The two main stages faced each other and alternated every half hour so there was always a band playing. I literally walked back and forth between stages to listen to nonstop rocking and rolling.

Ok so that was the good, now for the bad:

MC ChrisYou probably don’t know about one of the greatest self proclaimed nerd rapper’s in the world today, MC Chris. If you do, you might be my long lost best friend. For the rest, I would like to introduce you to him.

He stands at 5′nothing and probably weighs close to 100 pounds. At a glance you would think he is a teenage kid and after hearing his voice you’d be sure of it.

If you can get beyond all that you might digg his style.

He has done guest appearances on Aqua Teen Hunger Force as the voice of McPeePants and Sir Loin.

There is not much more I can say other than check out some of his stuff on the MC Chris Myspace Page. His music will do the talking. Unfortunately, I cannot find any streams of his latest album “Dungeon Master Of Ceremonies”, which is my favorite right now.

Here are some tunes I found that you can listen now. In the Mario Song, the opening line is from a movie. What movie is it? I know SOME of you know it…

This song is from an episode of Aqua Teen Hunger Force

I am a music snob. I’ll admit it, but I am not as bad as one of those “only indie music is worth listening to” type people. I am picky. I absolutely HATE the shit that is pushed down our throats on the radio, MTV, and other media outlets. Don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of bands out there who started out small, paid their dues, and worked their way to MTV / star status. I am OK with that.
Panic at the Disco Suck
I have issues with bands who undeservingly “make it big” way too fast. They are tons of bands like this, but off the top of my head I think of Panic! At The Disco, so I will refer to them. These “artists” don’t put in the same amount of time (and usually effort) as other, more deserving bands.

Instead they kick out a CD designed to appeal to a large teenage audience (catchy hooks, off-beat lyrics, “alternative” look, etc.) and get picked up by a major label who floods this shat-tastic sound all over the TV, Radio and Internet - boom! instant popularity. It’s great that they make it to that level, but not fair to other bands who have been around for YEARS and have way more talent.

It frustrates me to see bands put everything they have into their music and barely get by. I guess that is a true testament that a band is truely about their music and their fans, not so much the money. These are the people who should be rewarded, not bands like P!ATD.

Check out this guy who goes to pop music concerts and insults people. While I don’t agree with his approach, he does spell it out pretty nicely.

OK so I don’t hate many people in this world. Sure there are a bunch that I don’t care for, but I don’t actually HATE them, except for Kevin Federline. I dunno what it is about that fag, but everything he does just pisses me off. So why am I writing about him?

I came across a picture of his “concert demands” that he gave to the House of Blues concert hall in Chicago. A funny side note is that he did not sell enough tickets to fill the place, so they had to give them away for free. HAHA. I saw The Starting Line at the House Of Blues a few months ago in Atlantic City, NJ and they had no problem selling out.

Anyway, Federline’s dressing room demands are pretty absurd, but I guess if I was famous - or at least thought I was - I would have a similar list.

It would go something like this:

  1. A Nintendo Game Console with Tecmo Bowl, Punchout and the Power Glove
  2. 3 Talented Strippers: 1 Blonde, 1 Brunette and 1 Asian/Black mix
  3. 1 Stripper Pole
  4. 1 Case of Blue Moon with 3 oranges cut up into quarter inch slices
  5. 3 “Three Brothers” Pizzas from the Jersey Shore (Seaside Heights). 1 White, 1 Pepperoni and 1 Plain
  6. 5 Bottles of Lemon Vitamin Water
  7. 10 Sticks of Nag Champa Incense ;)
  8. 1 Boombox with the following CDs: Reel Big Fish - Turn the Radio Off, Midtown - Save the World Lose the Girl, RX Bandits - Progress, Goldfinger - Hangups
  9. 1 Bottle Listerine Mouthwash
  10. 1 Laptop with Internet Access
  11. 1 Bathrobe with some pimped out slippers
  12. 2 Decks of Playing Cards and Poker Chips
  13. Hi-Def Flatscreen TV and DVD Player with the following movies: Boondock Saints, The Sandlot, and Mighty Ducks 2
  14. Any nearby groupies looking to put out
  15. A couple of Omni Sumo Bags with optional curtains to hang around them (for privacy / groupies / strippers )

So that is most of what I would require in order to perform my best. What would you all need? Leave it in the comments.

Here are Federline’s demands below (click it for a bigger picture)

And here is what I’ve been digging on lately:

Soo I’ve thrown around this idea for a new site the last few weeks and I’ve come to the conclusion that I am going to build it. I’m sure it’ll be another soundkid, actually…I would like for it to be as big as soundkid. Christ, I had close to 800 members on that badboy. People are still joining to this day.

Anyway, on to my idea. I sat down and made of list of all the things I enjoy. Music was in the top 5, so I started to think about different music sites, what they lacked, what I would use, etc. and I came up with this:

A music tour site ( can be social networking esq, but doesn’t have to be ) where you can sign up and add all of your favorite bands to your profile. Then, each band will have a current list of their tour dates on their own page. So whenever you log in, you can have a list of all of your favorite bands, when they are coming to your area, where they are playing etc. I hate having to search different bands sites, different ticket sites, different venue sites, etc. trying to find out when a good show is coming around.

In addition, people can upload things like pics, audio, video, setlists, etc. from the show they went to as well as give it a review. Each user will have a running list of shows they have gone to and shows they are going to.

I still have to work out more specifics, but I could see it growing to the point where the site could even stream live shows as they happen, but that is wayssss down the road. Any thoughts? Suggestions? Is it a terrible idea? Keep in mind the target audience is 13-21 yr olds.

That’s all I got for now. Needed to get some thoughts out of my brain and down on paper.

Hit me back.

Can’t stop listening to Cartel recently. Their new album is going to be the shitttt. I wouldn’t be suprised to see them on MTV in a year or so (they gotta get off militia group). Anyway, take a listen to one of their songs and leave a comment or something.

In other news, on friday night tim, donny, and me are going down to our shore house in seaside. Then on saturday night we are going to cape may to visit heff. Should be a good ‘ole drunken time. Drop a line if you are going to be in either of these places.

Anyone catch the phils game tonight? Some wild plays going on and man did the giants seem to suck. I think sometime next week I’m gonna go hit up a night game? Who’s down?
