Hermey Might Be The Gayest Christmas Character Ever

Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer is probably my favorite Christmas movie of all time. I loved watching it as a kid and I still love watching it now. However, there is one character that annoys me more and more each year: Hermey the-homosexual-wannabe-dentist elf.

First off, what kind of name is Hermey? And yes, I looked it up to make sure it wasn’t HERBIE or something. There really is no way he could have turned out straight with a name like that.

And Let’s be real, what kind of elf wants to be a Dentist? A DENTIST?! I mean I would have believed a police man or a firefighter, but who really wants to work on people’s teeth all day?

So I am a Harry Potter freak, if you didn’t already know that. I’ve read all the books (a few times) and seen all the movies (a few times). I am such a big fan, that I decided to join Dumbledore’s Army (as you can see). I’ve been secretly working on my charms and I am ready for some action.

Borat Movie on Friday

I don’t know about eveyone else, but I am pretty excited for the new Borat movie which comes out this Friday ( 11/3 ). Hopefully my sister can hook me up with some free tickets and save me 15 bucks or whatever it costs nowadays. Here is a clip (probably not from the movie) of Borat in action. Keep in mind, Cohen (plays Borat) is Jewish so it is ok for him to sing this song. Watch the crowd get into it. It’s interesting to see how strong racism still is in our country. Anyway, enjoy.

Movie Review - The Departed

Well this movie blew me out of the water. I went in with very high expectations as EVERYONE told me it was awesome, Scorsese directed it, lots of big actors, blah blah blah. Last time that happened I expected Wedding Crashers to be the end all be all comedy of the year and it was just so-so.

Anyway, I don’t want to really talk about the plot of the movie since I would probably give something away. I will say that it had a Boondock Saints feel mixed with a mafia movie like Goodfellas. Jack Nicholson nails it as a weird ass Irish mob boss who seems to be losing his mind. Plus the plot twists and turns so many times you give up trying to guess what is going to happen next. A warning - it is long (2.5 hrs) so save yourself 15 bucks and don’t buy a soda (God damn movie prices…unreal). Anyone else see it? What do you all think? No spoilers in the comments please =)

What a great movie. It makes you think, it has action, agent smith runs around in a guy fawkes mask. The masterpiece I speak of is V for Vendetta. Some of you know how I am pretty picky about my movies and I only recommend the truely great ones: 40 yr old virgin, Thumbsucker, The Sting, Legend of Gatorface, etc. You know when I say to check out a movie, you better check the shit out cause it’ll be worth it. I pick winners, what can I say.

OK so off of my movie-buff ego trip. Well actually, not yet (Just call me Mike Malen…My ego knows no limit). So I’ve been digging on The Format a lot over the last few months, as many of you know. Sure enough, I get an IM from Donny saying he heard them on the radio multiple times throughout the day. Now I’m not one to toot my own horn (well ok sometimes) but I know what people like to hear…and by people I mean confused, adolescent teenage boys and girls. But yea, I call ‘em like I see ‘em and The Format is another band you can chalk up as a “Diddy told you so” band. Damn i’m good.

Now off of my ego trip and on to my beach trip. This past weekend we took a overnighter to seaside heights and it was a blast. I won’t bore you with the details, but let’s just say one of us was thrown by a wave into some chicks tatties =) . No, it wasn’t me, and yes I am so lame that grabbing a random girls boob qualifies as a great trip.

What else? What else?

I’ve been working in Oceanport, NJ for the last 2 weeks. It’s alright. The area is pretty cool and gym is really nice. They have me in this Club Med-esque gym where you have seperate towels for your face and to wipe down the machine. The 8-6:45 (we don’t do 9-5, ever.) work is kinda boring. They have my data mining right now, which is cake, but duller than malen’s sense of humor ( just kidding…we love you, michael. ) Hopefully it will pick up and I will get some larger responsibilities. If they only knew what I am capable of…

That’s all I got for now. Skyview concert this Friday night and Topsail in 2 weeks…Gonna be a good close to August.

Portions for Foxes

wooo haaaa. I’m back bitches. Well I was never really gone, just lazy and didn’t feel like writing anything. I’ve been a little busy working on a new business plan which I think is going to make enough for me to maybe leave my job in a few months and do it full time. I also got into this online “paid to surf” thanks to dif and jackman. So far I made 40 bucks in 2 days…not too shabby. If you want to know more about it, send me an IM and i’ll hook you up.

So let’s seeeee. Christmas was the balls. I got to see family and crap, you know…the usual. I got a few gifts, but I knew what most of them were going to be so no real suprises. Except for the gift my dad gave me, which blindsided me. He got me a sirius satellite radio receiver so I can listen to stern still. HAHA, it was quite the suprise.

So Kerv and Malen moved back home and Jon is in over break which means I’ve been drinking more than per usual the past weekend. Friday night we went to the hulmeville inn and there were a shit ton of kids I graduated with…more than usual. Unfortunately it was a pure slopfest for me and I didn’t really talk to any of them. Apparently Evan Jonekeit (sp?) is going to be in the new Rocky Movie? That’s all I carried away from the night…that and a hefty hangover.

New years eve should be a good time. We are throwing a ripper at steve’s place. Couple kegs, some bitches…you know how we do. Then I plan spending the next week working from home, maybe doing a bit of snowboarding. Hopefully the following week I will be in North Carolina on my next project. Who knows.

Oh real quick… I saw this movie called “mysterious skin” . It was real screwed up, but pretty good. I’m starting to get into indie movies a lot lately. Also, the new Mates of State cd is stellar. Check it out if you get a chance.
