Hey everyone, I know it’s been a while since I last wrote, but that’s only because I love you too much. I realize that if I write an article every day, there’s a chance some people might expect to read the gloriousness of my articles on a regular basis and be heartbroken when I skip a day. So to make sure some of you internet readers can actually accomplish work on most of your work days, I must space out my articles deliberately and secretly to keep you on your toes. Or, it’s my ability to procrastinate and my apathy to anything that doesn’t involve drinking. It’s one of the two, that’s for sure.
Anyway, if you are like some of the people I know you are currently asking yourselves, “What television shows am I going to watch this fall?” Well search no further, I have your answers. I am listing the television shows that I never miss and you shouldn’t either.
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia - September 13th, FX, 9:00 p.m. Central
If you’ve never seen this show, you are missing out. Entering its third season, this show is a demented, perverted version of “Seinfeld,” and that’s meant to be taken as a compliment. Three guys, a girl (the older Olsen sister) and their newly divorced father (Danny Devito) own a hole in the wall bar in Philadelphia. With random story lines and unexpected occurances, its raunch at it’s finest.
How I Met Your Mother* - September 24th, CBS, 7:00 p.m. Central
This show has become a hit after its first season about five friends post college. The story is told in the first person (voiced by Bob Saget) and includes Marshall (the lanky guy from “Slackers” and “Knocked Up”), Lily (band geek from “American Pie”), and Barney (NPH from “Harold and Kumar”). I could look up the actual names of the actors/actresses that are on this show, but what do I look like? Wikipedia? Also, the main character, Ted, has a line in “Not Another Teen Movie” which is a fantastic movie and a guilty pleasure of mine. You should watch this show because it’s going to be legend….wait for it…dary!
30 Rock - September 27th, NBC, 7:30 p.m. Central
I don’t really care what Alec Baldwin called his little girl on the phone. As long as it doesn’t affect the role he plays on “30 Rock,” in which he is businessman Jack Donnaghy and spits off the second greatest lines of the show. The only one who can better Alec Baldwin is none other than Tracy Morgan, who plays Tracy Jordan on the show. The premise is this: Jack Donnaghy is the boss of the “TGS with Tracy Jordan” (a SNL sketch type of show) and Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) is the head writer. Tracy Jordan is the obvious star of the show, and commands all of the attention whether the cameras are rolling or not. And don’t forget to pay attention to Kenneth, the white, country, nervous NBC page that is a member of Tracy Jordan’s entourage in the show. Great writing and great acting make it a show you can’t miss.
The Office - September 27th, NBC, 8:00 p.m. Central
Do I really have to convince you to watch this show? Because if I do, I don’t want you to watch it. You don’t deserve it then. If you’ve been living under a rock for the past couple of years and don’t know what “The Office” is about, it’s about the antics that go on within a paper company’s office and has Steve Carrel starring as Michael Scott, the boss. Honestly, if you don’t watch and appreciate this show, just neuter yourself. We can’t let you pollute the world of tomorrow by procreating.
Favorite Quote from last year:
(At a hotel room with Dwight holding a black light over the bed)
Dwight: “This black light will pick up anything that is blood, sweat, or urine.”
(Michael turns off the lamp, revealing large splotches highlighted above the bed, on the wall, ceiling, EVERYWHERE!)
Michael: “…Let’s just hope that’s urine.”
Scrubs - September 27th, NBC, 8:30 p.m. Central
In the same realm as “The Office,” you should know what “Scrubs” is about. If not, it’s about doctors at a hospital and stars Zach Braff (”Garden State”), Donald Faison (”Trippin’” and “Clueless”) and Sarah Chalke (the other “Becky” in “Rosanne”). Oh yeah, and some unknown actor by the name of John C. McGinley who is in every movie ever made and has knocked every role out of the park. He plays Dr. Cox in this show though, but he also played one of the “Bobs” in “Office Space.” I can only hope that there’s a “John C. McGinley Show” in my lifetime.
“Scrubs” is written by Bill Lawrence, who also did “Spin City” and if you aren’t watching “Scrubs,” Bill Lawrence doesn’t care. Since this will be the last season, Bill Lawrence has been specially tailoring his scripts to appeal only to the people that have been with the show throughout its run. Adding more “The Todd” jokes, more Dr. Cox’s rants, and hopefully, more Eliot’s thong shots. Don’t miss this show if you can.
Other Mentionables:
“Friday Night Lights” - Good show, a bit predictable. Drama, football, and high school unite! Finally on Friday nights!
“CSI: Miami” - Oh, I can’t miss the stylings of Horatio Cane, a.k.a. David Caruso. His ability to over-act every line in every scene makes me just feel happy all over. I don’t mind if I miss these new shows, since the reruns are constantly on in the even I need my Caruso fix.
* Now after this article, my obsession with the show “How I Met Your Mother” is admitted. Anyway, in one episode of this show Marshall inherits a car from his brothers. The catch is that The Proclaimers single tape for “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” is stuck in the tape deck and won’t ever come out. So they have to either listen to the song over and over again (which they do) or listen to nothing. That got me thinking about doing a running diary of that. I will be going on a 5 hour drive (10 hours total) to visit family this month and am thinking about listening to only that song then entire time. Interested? Should it be that song? A different song? Some feedback would be appreciated.
Also, an article will be coming soon that is an outline of movies that I would actually pay money to go see in the theaters before the year is done. Till next time!

I just picked up a new HD-Tivo in my attempt to get ready for another great season of staring.
I’m like a staring maniac.
I can stare at; drama, comedy, dramedy, sci-fi, you name it.
Surgery channel, I’m starin’
God awful documentary about obese midgets and how difficult their lives are… starin’
Yup, I’m nothin’ special!
Damn J,
I’ll take a dose of whatever you got!
Im siked for most of these shows…The Office, 30 Rock (I heard Baldwin wants out?!), and Scrubs. I am especially stoke for DEXTER!!!! ahh I love that show
I heard that Baldwin did want out after his comments to his daughter got out, but he was under contract for another year and they wouldn’t let him. Hopefully, after this year people will forget about it and allow him to sign a long term deal with “30 Rock!” And I’ve never seen “Dexter,” so I can’t comment about it. Maybe I should check it out…
I’ll definitely be watching all these shows this fall…I just wanted to mention another show (not starting this fall…I realize that it doesn’t actually fit this list…but…) - “Flight of the Conchords” on HBO. It’s one of the funnier shows I’ve seen in a long time. Anyway, you should check it out. The first season is over now, but they’ve renewed it for a second, and you can watch all the episodes On Demand, if you have Time Warner (I don’t know about other providers…) Hilarious.
Hey Tigli,
I also have caught every “Flight of the Concords” episode along with “Entourage” as well. I have never heard that they’re coming back with a second season though…I always thought “Flight” was scheduled as a mini-series to promote a CD and would be a one time thing. I’m definitely interested, but they need to come up with some more songs. The “Mermaid” song was pretty weak, and they’ve already sang all of the good songs from their standups. My personal favorite is “If You’re Into It.”
