A few weeks ago a local philly radio station, WMMR, did a “march madness style” tournament for bands. Basically, they matched one band up against another and people voted for their favorite. While it was a pretty solid gig, I didn’t like most of the bands involved so I figured I would do a BpBc version and match up two bands each week and let you vote on your favorite.
My only request is that you leave me some suggestions in the comments so who you think would be some quality matchups. If you leave it totally up to me you will have lots of punk, emo and ska bands facing off and I’m pretty sure most of you won’t enjoy that. So speak up and let me know who you’d like to see on here.
Stay tuned.

i think you should stay true to your roots.
make sure you include the family tree: brand new, taking back sunday, straylight run, sure some interesting debate there.
modest mouse, the academy is, fall out boy, etc…
Maybe you should do four different types in music in each of the four major brackets. It’s going to be hard to come up with 64 bands in any category alone, and it wouldn’t make too much sense comparing some small time emo band to some pop band. Atleast when you have the best of the emo bracket going up against the best of the rock bracket in the final four it would make a lot more sense.
You might want to do more than 1 a week though, it would take a year to complete an entire bracket.
Yea the only thing is that im not going to do it march madness style. I don’t want to steal MMR’s idea THAT much, just a little bit.
can i request hanson to be in there?
Meatloaf and Boston should get an automatic buy into the quarter-finals.
Barry Manilow, BeeGees, Chicago, Bread and ofcourse my all time favorite … Tony Bennett.
hinder, nickleback, three doors down, creed and scott stapp as a solo artist are my votes.
The Darkness, Buckcherry, ACDC……. nuff said
