I’ve been intrigued by those “Nike Plus / Resolution” commercials. I would love to see Lebron be a ball boy for some tennis chick. So I decided to investigate further and see if this Nike Plus campaign was legit. I browsed through their over-flashy site and decided that the whole ordeal is just a big ‘ol waste of money.
Sure it’s nice being able to track you’re workouts, but I do that now. It’s called a pencil and paper. They are simply pushing iPod Nanos, overpriced shoes, and Nike shirts (probably made by little mexican kids for chicken feed as payment) on people. It’s a big marketing stunt. Don’t waste your money. Go buy a pencil, paper, and pedometer. It will cost you $40 bucks total instead of the $400-$500 you will spend to join Nike Plus.
Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s great that people will be motivated to run. I just think that the cost to participate isn’t justified. I have been running for the past 2 years and haven’t had a problem. I have also saved hundreds of dollars, which I then used to buy more important things like porn. JUST KIDDING!…I don’t pay for that shit.
No but seriously, I am starting a “BpBc Plus Campaign” in protest. If anyone wants to challenge me or any other BpBc readers to a New Years resolution, then let’s do it. It will have to be on the honor system though and not through any other site.
We can do it doctors-note-in-middle-school style where your mom signs your mileage report to verify it’s legitimacy. Let’s be honest, A mom’s signature justifies any letter, even death threats.
So howsaboutit? Who’s In?

I’m with you Diddy. NIKE has totally pissed on the foundation that Bill Bowerman and Steve Prefontaine built back in the 70s. NIKE used to be my footwear of choice, but in the past year and a half I have changed over to PUMA. Their shoes are lighter, more durable, and have the same grade materials ad NIKE. I’m in on the Challenge, let’s stick it to the man.
Yeah, I love using the pencil and paper you recommend to scribble the lyrics to my favourite tunes as I speed along on my runs, because I don’t have ANY MUSIC TO LISTEN TO.
I have no idea who you are. I have no idea why you’re writing a blog. I have no idea how i stumbled across your idiotic comments.
But I do know that you compared “$40 bucks total” for pencil, paper, and pedometer to an iPod. You should look into these things. You see, for a start, they play music…
see ya round, sucka…
PS I’m gonna bookmark your little diary here, just to see what other idiocy you write in the future.
Your prices are off-base. My total cost came in around $260 (Air Pegasus $75 + Nike Plus System $25 + iPod Nano $160). Not shabby, considering an accelerometer costs upwards of $200.
Got to hand it to Nike and Mac for the innovation on this one. Pencil and paper is alright, but shit dude get a clue.
Apple + Nike = SWEET!!!!
Runners needs shoes every 500 miles or so and the Nike + variation is the same price as any other competitive shoe. They start at $75 retail and go up from there. Get them on sale and save even more! The sensor/transmitter retails for $29. You can grab any iPod nano 1st, 2nd, or 3rd gen, the 1st and 2nd gen nano’s are very inexpensive on eBay…..like $30-$40, or the new 3rd gen 4GB model is like $150 retail. Combine this with being able to upload all of your data to Nike Plus’s web site, download specialized workouts from guys like Lance Armstrong to give you some motivation when you’re trying for that 1 extra mile.
Bottom line is that this combo is Awesome!!! It is getting people out from in front of their PC and TV and running. Major props to Nike and Apple for this new toy! I’m in!
I agree wholeheartedly with your comment. I started running 2 years ago. Last year alone, I bought 5 pairs of air pegasus, including a nike plus one. That was terrible, extremely inflexible. I cannot find any without nike plus and will consider for the first time since air pegasus came out, changing to another brand. I am all for music. In fact I have had several Mp3 players for the last 6 years (am a bit of a geek) but I have gone out of my way not to join the snobbish Apple crowd (even bought a Blackberry instead of an iPhone), so I don’t see why I should be forced to do so by Nike, esp when the replacement nike plus is inferior. (I have a Garmin Forerunner 305 as well). I hope Nike is reading this blog because that is 5 pairs of your shoes for the next 20- 30 years that I will not be buying if this continues and I am sure I am not the only one.
