I saw this on Digg. I like Digg.

Here is a breakdown of what people in the US call a “Soft Drink”.
Yellow = Soda.
Blue / Purple = Pop.
Red = Crazy Ass Republicans.
I call it Soda as does every other normal person around here. The rest of you are freaks, but I love you anyway.
Apparently people call Soda “Coke” in the South. Somehow this doesn’t surprise me. They are usually all mixed up down there. That’s why Bush is our president. Coke is a brand name not a type of drink, silly Republicans.

yeah if you’re in the south it’ll go like this. “Hey I’ll have a coke.” “Ok what kind.” “…A coke.” And Rochester is indeed the eastern most city where the majority says “pop.” It’s a big topic of contention for the freshmen but when I hear people argue about it now it’s just annoying. I do like the looks I get for saying hoagie though.
Coke maybe a brand but don’t you ask for band-aids or kleenex? Those are brands too. It’s not that weird. But me being from oregon I call it pop and most of the people I know do the same.
actually, i call kleenex “Tissues” and band-aids “small bandage thingies”…maybe I’m the weirdo…
I call those things “masturbation cleanup devices” and “things pussies use when they get a boo-boo.” but maybe I’m the weirdo?
well, we call our softdrinks …..”fresh”.
@ Douglas, for some guys it’s the other way around though … kleenex for a boo-boo and bandaids for cleanup duty. But not for you (ofcourse) they tell me.
when I lived in georgia we called it Coke, I think because we were near the coca-cola factory, they owned that state. I still call it all Coke
careful, someday you’ll be calling a republican …. boss
one day in your limited future you’ll be calling a republican …. boss
