If you haven’t already heard, the new Michael Bay film “Transformers” came out early last week in theatres across the country. The movie (which has been out for only a few days) has already reached the number one spot. But, for all of those skeptical movie-goers who are unsure about this movie, allow me to put your minds at ease.
This movie kicks ass.
It did. It does. The action sequences are straight-up redonkulous and the eye-candy (Megan Fox) is worth the price of admission. I mean…yea I would have liked to see some unnecessary female nudity, but I can understand that this movie was made for a PG-13 audience and some tatty flashing wouldn’t have been acceptable.
Also, Shia Labeouf and Jon Voight give stellar performances. Shia has almost grown out of that “Even Stevens” character although traces of Louis Stevens come through in the movie.
Voight, on the other hand, acts his heart out and it is a thing of beauty. That isn’t to say it rivaled his performance in Anaconda (it obviously couldn’t compare to that gem) but it was still a great bit of acting.
The only requirement needed to enjoy this movie is this: go into it knowing the plot is weak (bordering irrelevant). It’s a Michael Bay movie. Fuck do you expect? You are going in to see amazing action sequences and that is exactly what you get. The CGI is great too.
So, for those people who like movies that make you over-think in order to laugh or enjoy the film (COUGH:COLDBURN:COUGH), I suggest you pass on Transformers and go see a Wes Anderson flick. For the rest of us, get in there and see this bangin’-ass film. You won’t regret it.

Now is this a sequel to the 1980’s Transformer movie? Or more a reboot?
It’s a reboot I believe. I don’t remember the first one actually…
In fact, the new version was a basically a big advertisement for GM…the product placement was laughable
did you go see this movie by yourself on Sunday?
Nah, went with my bro…?
Right. Shallow and pedantic.
No plot? Why don’t I just watch some AFV and call it a night…
I never said No plot, i said weak plot. If you can believe that Mega-tron traveled light years to get the All-Spark in order to turn Human technology against humans, while Optimus Prime and the Auto-bots try and destroy the all-Spark by finding an old explorers reading glasses, then this plot is legit. I struggled to believe the plot and therefore found the movie…far-fetched.
Why don’t you just go watch the new Michael Moore movie doug? You’re a filthy woman.
I saw this movie last Monday July 2nd during it’s initial preview screening. As soon as the credits rolled I was back at the box office buying tickets for the 11:40pm show. It was amazing to finally see my childhood hero Optimus Prime interacting with living, breathing humans. This movie fucking pwns all. Not like I’ve been saying this for well over a year now.
