I somehow found myself on TurtleKid.com the other day. Don’t ask what I was doing there.

They have these videos of kids doing some pretty crazy stuff. One kid (who is 3) painted this sick TMNT picture. Another kid was throwing deadly sies with incredible accuracy.

Watch the clips here

The question is: Is the site legit? Or is it some marketing ploy to get me to buy some TMNT crap?

EDIT: I am pretty sure this is bogus as the name of the file is “TMNTViral.swf”. The VIRAL part leads me to believe it is some sort of marketing technique to explode the video and drive people to the site. But that may just me the affiliate marketer in me speaking out…

Total fake! I never see his fingers move during critical painting moments. Whenever it is zoomed out he’s not painting anything important. A three year old’s hand is never that still. Also google yeilded no “Good Morning America” spots, no “Today” show, A kid like that could easily be on Letterman, c’mon. It’s a total fake. Doll hand on the end of a stick.

This is ridiculous. I saw that kid painting; completely fake. He knew all about directional lighting and make things look multi-dimensional. I’ve been called a gifted artist my whole life, I think I’m alright, but I didn’t get that kind of stuff until I was like 13! No one my age did in art classes. It took all of HUMANITY over 300,000 years to learn about that! There would be more stuff about some artist savant on the internet than some shitty promo video.

Well, someone needs to lay off the caffeine. Should probably sit the next couple plays out too.

This has to be fake due to the fact the video cuts away every time the kid is ready to touch the picture. Like Mr. White said, didn’t show the kids fingers during critical painting.

Why is everyone so eager to say this is fake?

There have been child prodigies since the beginning of time. Marla Olmstead created and sold her artwork by age 2. Mozart composed his first symphony at the age of 8, but was already a notable performer long before that. There are children who are 3 years old solving Rubik’s cubes, and some children can learn to speak at 9 months of age. There are endless examples of gifted children around the world.

I have worked in daycares for 17 years now, and have come across some amazingly intelligent children. Your generalizations are biased and sound a little jealous to me. One child I know was reading simple words at 2, and novels by the time they were 3. My brother learned the guitar, drums, and piano by the age of 7. There ARE children who can do things you couldn’t do at that age, you know. It just isn’t common. The composition of his artwork, while advanced, is not in anyway at a genius level anyway. Its good, is all, and his parents must be very proud.

wweellllll…I know of plenty of incredible smart/ genius kids-not personally, but on TV/news. The only thing I do find suspisious is the lack of news reports on it.
